Holden on to Summer.
I have to say that this was the first year I felt relaxed. Revived. The kids are now 6 and 9 so the amount of shit you have to lug on vacation was not there anymore. No pack-and-play, diapers, bottles, or the extras that come with small children to keep them entertained. Don't get me wrong... I loved those days, that season of our lives, but now it is as if I have a moment to breath and really SEE my children. We can relax on the beach for hours. Read a book while the kids play, Grab a cocktail at 11am without the need to "pump and dump". You feel me?
We ventured to Holden Beach this year and I must say we have found our place. For years we went to North Myrtle then Ocean Isle and finally have landed at Holden. Our house was in a gated community with lots of undeveloped land filled with wildlife. The beaches were bare and free of families fighting for the perfect spot. Our house was located on the Intercostal but we could be on the beach in a quick golf cart ride. It. Was. Perfect.
We spent mornings watching boats come and go while sipping coffee with the cool wind in our face. B has been searching for a boat for years now but this trip pushed me to sharing that same dream of us having a boat. It is now in the 5-year plan!
